American Indian Silver Jewelry
American Indian Silver Jewelry began in the Southwest in 1865 when a Blacksmith named Atsidi Sani learned how to work Silver from the Spaniards who were in this area in search for Silver and Gold. Atsidi Sani was prolific in producing Indian Silver Jewelry, he taught fellow Navajos the trade and he was also the first Navajo Silversmith to make Turquoise Jewelry which was around 1870.
The Navajo Inlaid Turquoise and Silver Bracelet to the left is a great example of modern Indian Silver Jewelry being produced in the Southwest today. The Navajo's have made great strides in the quality and uniqueness of the Silver Jewelry that they produce. This Silver Bracelet is inlaid with wonderful blue spider webbed Turquoise and is handmade of heavy Sterling Silver.
Navajo Silver Jewelry has come a long way in the 150 years since Atsidi Sani began making Indian Silver Jewelry. They make many types of Jewelry including plain Silver Jewelry, Turquoise Jewelry, Inlaid Gemstone Jewelry and much more! They make Silver Rings, Bracelets, Pendants, Necklaces, Belt Buckles, Earrings and many other items.
