Turquoise Beads have been made in the Southwestern regions of North American for more than 2000 years. Turquoise Beads dating back to 200 B.C. have been found from the Hohokam Indian excavations which are located in Arizona. Turquoise Beads from the Chaco Culture date back prior to 900 A.D. and other pre-historic Turquoise Beads have been found at Cerrillos and the Burro Mountains of N.M., the Morenci and Kingman regions in Az and the Conejos region of Colorado. The Hartman’s of Durango Silver Company have collected Turquoise and Turquoise beads for over forty years. A Turquoise Bead Necklace from our company is more than just a piece of costume Jewelry. We have been trading in Turquoise Beads for nearly 40 years and because of our close association with Native American Indians, we realize Turquoise Beads are spiritual and have metaphysical powers. This is a beautiful five strand multi-colored Treasure Necklace made by Nattarika Hartman of Durango Silver Company. It was made with Turquoise, Malachite, Sugilite, Gaspeite, Lapis, Spiny Oyster and other natural gemstone beads. This broad array of colors create a stunning look when worn. We have several Turquoise Mines in Nevada and many of the Turquoise beads that we use come from the material that we have mined ourselves. This is a three strand Tortoise Turquoise Necklace made by Nattarika. It is made with eight millimeter Turquoise beads that have a lot of natural matrix host rock that the Tortoise Turquoise is found in. Many people love this look as it has a natural and warm appearance when worn. We own and mine Tortoise Turquoise ourselves and have the beads made for us in different sizes and shapes to create Jewelry in many different styles. Tortoise Turquoise comes from Nevada and usually has green hues from a light mint green to a bold emerald green, the host rock/matrix runs from a black Churt/Manganese to a multiple colors of brown, light to dark. These particular beads are called "Boulder or Ribbon Turquoise".
