Turquoise from the Paiute mine in Nevada has become one of top 10 most collectible Turquoise varieties in the world. The famous Paiute Turquoisemine produces some of the highest grade Turquoise in the world, boosting semi-translucent deep blue Turquoise stones that feature the highly coveted tight black spiderweb matrix for it's high grade that rival the best stones from the Lander Blue Turquoise mine in beauty and price. The Pauite Turquoise mine shares a mountain with the Godber / Burnham /Drycreek Turquoise mine in central Nevada. While claims at the Pauite site date back to 1974, the mine has been actively productive since 1992. The Pauite mine produces limited quantities of high-grade spiderweb Turquoise. It has a wide graduation of blue tone, from light to dark, with web or matrix in colors of black, orange, brown, and red. It is hard Turquoise and some of the finest we have ever seen. Recently the miner (Tony Cotner) let us view some samples of his AAA+ high-grade, and it was breath taking, such as this piece of 14k gold and Paiute Turquoise jewelry to the right by John Hartman. It is a real honor to be able to use high grade natural Paiute Turquoise in your jewelry. Tony is very select about who he will sell his beloved Paiute Turquoise to, only selling to America and Japan's finest gold smiths, silver jewelry artisans, and Native American Indian jewelry artists. |
Above are three examples of high end handmade American Jewelry featuring different looks of top grade natural Paiute Turquoise from Nevada, USA. As you can see there are many different types of Paiute Turquoise Jewelry. The first piece, left to right, is a beautiful Native American made Sterling Silver and Paiute Turquoise belt buckle. The center piece of Paiute Turquoise Jewelry is a 18k gold ring with the highest grade of Paiute Turquoise surrounded by an inlay design of Sugilite, Italian Coral, Paiute Turquoise and Sleeping Beauty Turquoise. This piece was American Indian handmade in the USA. The piece to the furthest right is a great example of the top end Paiute Turquoise jewelry by Durango Silver Company. This solid 14k yellow gold pendant by Crystal Hartman features a different look of high grade natural Turquoise from the Paiute mine in Nevada. This particular cabochon features a gorgeous electric blue color with the black spiderweb matrix with white quarts in the matrix. Crystal did an excellent job adorning this fabulous quality Turquoise gemstone with yellow gold leaf and vine designs.
Here are three more museum quality pieces of Paiute Turquoise Jewelry. The first is a solid 14k gold bracelet by Will Dennetdale that features a 25 carat top gem grade Paiute Turquoise cabochon. Will is a famous Native American Jewelry artist whose work is collected world wide. This particular bracelet features the variety of Paiute Turquoise that offers a black and orange spiderweb matrix. The center piece is a wonderful example of John Hartman's 14k yellow gold jewelry with a top grade electric blue Paiute Turquoise cabochon. This piece of Paiute Turquoise Jewelry shows the wider webbed Paiute Turquoise that we love so much. This brighter blue, wider spiderweb variety of Paiute would appeal to the collector that wants to see more Turquoise blue color then matrix. The last piece is a 14k yellow gold ring by Nattarika Hartman that features the top gem grade variety of natural Paiute Turquoise that is a deep, deep blue and is semi-translucent. This particular gemstone is so high grade and so hard that the Turquoise is semi-translucent, which is rare in Turquoise. Nattarika did a wonderful job decorating the rare gem with handmade, botanical designed, 14k gold prongs. Again this is a great example of the Hartman's high grade American Turquoise jewelry, not to mention what a great example of natural Nevada Turquoise this stone is.
One of the neatest things about Paiute Turquoise Jewelry is that it is very uncommon. There is a very, very limited amount of Paiute Turquoise that has ever been mined. It is scarce today as it ever was. So there is not alot out there for jewelers or collectors. Besides this point, not many jewelers or collectors are of the level to work with or own Turquoise as high quality as natural Paiute Turquoise from Nevada, USA. Most jewelry made with high grade Paiute Turquoise is gold as the stones can cost up to hundreds of dollars per carat. This rare American Turquoise is very exclusive and can only be purchased from the mine owner directly or from a collector willing to part with some at an inflated price. As a jewelry artist, if you do not know the miner, you will most likely never be able to use real Paiute Turquoise in your jewelry. The last reason it is hard to come by Paiute Turquoise Jewelry is that most of the cabochons have been sold to Turquoise collectors in Japan. When the mine produces stones, a select few collectors and jewelers are offered a chance to by the cabochons. Rough Paiute Turquoise is never sold. This makes Paiute Turquoise Jewelry very hard to come by and very collectible. As mentioned above the mine owner only sells to a select few top level jewelry artisans. The production of top gem grade natural Turquoise from the Paiute mine is limited and highly coveted. |
